Most women experience vaginal thrush. It is a very common yeast infection in women. The symptoms are intense itching, swelling and irritation. In sever cases there may be creamy white cheese like discharge. The organism responsible for vaginal thrush is a fungi called Candida albicans. It is more common in pregnancy as the hormonal balance changes during this period and many women have candida already present in there genitalia. Although, there is no evidence that say that being affected by vaginal thrush during pregnancy can cause any damage to the unborn baby, it is always better to keep safe. It may cause harm to the cervix. To reduce the chances, pessaries should be inserted by hand instead of applicator.
Lice infection is another troublesome condition during pregnancy. Lice are blood sucking insects that live on the scalp. They can not fly or jump. Instead they crawl. So, they can only be transmitted by close contact. It can also spread if personal items like hats, head phones etc are shared. Lice are small, so very difficult to see. The common symptom is intense itching of the scalp. During pregnancy, the best way to get rid of lice is the natural method. At first, try using a fine – toothed nit comb to comb the wet hair. Using oils like tree oil, neem oil, lavender oil, clove oil, eucalyptus oil etc have proven their efficacy in eradicating lice.
